Juansi Waterfall is stunning waterfall conveniently located in Yangmingshan National Park.
The hike – 1.5 hours, easy difficulty – You can start at either the Lengshuikeng visitor center or at the Juansi Waterfall trailhead. It will be easier to start at the Lengshuikeng visitor center and go downhill although it’s not very steep. Walk north from the visitor center and you will cross a suspension bridge. Turn right towards Cingtiangang and walk through the tall grasses. You will need to make two more rights at signed intersections. It will take about an hour to reach the waterfall and an additional half hour to reach the Juansi waterfall trailhead. Near Cingtiangang there are several other short trails to hike.
How to get there – This is an easy hike to do using public transportation. You can take the red 5 bus from either the Jiantan or Shilin MRT stations in addition to a few other buses. The red 5 bus will drop you off at the Yangmingshan bus center. The 108 bus does a circle tour of Yangmingshan stopping at several great destinations. Be sure to get off at the Lengshuikeng visitor center and not at the Lengshuikeng cold springs. The last bus departs at 5:30 but it’s likely that you will be able to find a ride if you are late.
Other info – Park cost is free and the bus cost is 15NT/ride or 60NT/day pass. The name of the waterfall in Chinese is Sijuan which is very confusing if you are trying to ask for directions.
