Lingjiao Waterfall

Lingjiao is the first waterfall on the Keelung River but it is rarely visited compared to the more famous Shifen Waterfall. Lingjiao Waterfall is only a short walk from Lingjiao Train Station and can be combined with several other waterfalls and sights in the Pingxi Valley on the same day trip. Visitors can also check out the strange holes that have been carved into the rock at Lingjiao. More photos are available at Dokuya’s blog about Lingjiao.

Rating and length – easy – <1km (30 minutes) round trip

Accessibility – right next to the train station

How to get there – Lingjiao Waterfall can be accessed by private vehicle, Pingxi Rail Line or public bus. The best option is taking bus 795 from Muzha MRT station. It stops at all of the major scenic points in the Pingxi Valley. After taking the bus to Lingjiao it is best to travel by train after that. The 2nd best option is Pingxi Rail Line (80 TWD for a day pass) but you definitely want to get there early because the train cars are filled past capacity by 11am.

The hike – If you take the bus then you will have to walk 200-300 meters down the road to the Lingjiao Train Station. From Lingjiao Train Station walk towards the bridge. Turn left and go through a small parking lot and walk past a building. The hike follows a path next to the train tracks until some stairs on the right. Follow the stairs to the river.

Seasonality – all year

Other info – train fare (80 TWD for a day pass) – bus fare (15 TWD/ride I think)
