Guan Hot Spring Campground (near Chunyang Hot Spring) is one of my favorite campgrounds for large groups. The tent sites are not exactly beautiful but they are extremely functional and they allow each group enough space and are covered in case of stormy weather.
The highlight of campground is the circular bathhouse containing close to 20 private hot spring tubs and a large community pool.
The campground – There are long metal roof camping areas that are large enough to eat and camp under. Most of these have picnic tables and benches along with sinks and an electrical outlet. There is a large restroom near the middle of the campground and the bathouse is exactly in the center. They gave us plastic garbage bags to separate recyclables and trash and there is a dumpster area to drop it off.
Cost – 250/person/night but more during holidays. We were there during Chinese New Year (I think 400/night).
How to get there – Go through Wushe and past the police station. Stay on Hwy 14 since 14甲 continues to Hehuanshan. Hwy 14 goes through Lushan and you can access the Nenggao Trail from a side road near the end. Take a sharp right turn at a wooden set of stairs before the 85 km marker. This narrow road switchbacks a few times on the way down to the river and crosses at a nice bridge. Turn left about 50 meters past the bridge at an intersection. Follow this road until you see the campground. There are some odd yellow signs with a cat on them.
Mass transit – not possible
